Birthmarked Book 2

My Review:

When Gaia has left Warfton only the tale of the Dead Forest keeps her legs moving. When there is nothing left but wasteland and her sister Maya is barely moving Gaia knows she must make a choice. As she glimpses her first horse past her weary eyes, Gaia meets Chardo Peter, a man that will carry a new piece of her life.

Brought to the village is Sylum, Gaia finds that staying can mean never leaving and that her sister will be taken from her , dead to her as the Matrarc calls it, but why future will have give her.

With an opposing social structure than Gaia knew in her old world, rules will be broken or changed, and an old friend will arrive imprisoned.

Prized has so many amazing things going on inside this storyline. I love Leon, Peter, Will, and Gaia as characters. As they are all finding new things within themselves and rising to the challenge as the necessity arises, Caragh M. O'Brien(author) has created a layered dystopian that will pull your heartstrings and leave you gasping for more. I love the world of Birthmarked with it's rich characters, layers and complex plot, and it's beautiful description and worldbuilding.

With the depth of what is going on for these characters and their world and their societies, Prized will astound you.

Book Blurb:
Striking out into the wasteland with nothing but her baby sister, a handful of supplies, and a rumor to guide her, sixteen-year-old midwife Gaia Stone survives only to be captured by the people of Sylum, a dystopian society where women rule the men who drastically outnumber them, and a kiss is a crime. In order to see her sister again, Gaia must submit to their strict social code, but how can she deny her sense of justice, her curiosity, and everything in her heart that makes her whole?
