Blurb From The Publisher:

Summer is the best part of the year in Winston, California, and the Fourth of July is the highlight of the season. But the perfect town Clare remembers has changed, and everyone is praying that this summer will be different from the last two—that this year's Fourth of July festival won't see one of their own vanish without a trace, leaving no leads and no suspects. The media are in a frenzy predicting a third disappearance, but the town depends on tourist dollars, so the residents of Winston are trying desperately to pretend nothing's wrong.
And they're not the only ones hiding something.
Clare, a seamstress who redesigns vintage clothing, has been blessed—or perhaps cursed—with a gift: she can see people's pasts when she touches their clothes. When she stumbles across a denim jacket that once belonged to Amanda Stavros, last year's Fourth of July victim, Clare sees her perfect town begin to come apart at the seams.

Our Thoughts On:

What it your future was just hanging by a thread? Clare's family has just moved back to her old town of Winston to the haunted house in town. Their huge historical home had a tragic past of murder and betrayal with a touch of magic woven in between. In a past filled with secrets, Clare has been kept back from the reality of her family's curse, but soon the past may just be catching up with the residents on Winston.
Clare has a passion for fashion and while selling her creations Clare finds herself reading the past from the very fabric she am loves to alter. Clare's gift could be the very thing unraveling her. Getting impressions from fabrics has haunted Clair's family for several generations and for that the town has always been wary of her family. When Clair lives back into Winston it is just around the time when years previous several kids have disappeared. Clair's gift reveals an awful truth about this quiet small town that will destroy families that have keep secret truths that would have let other families fears laid to ground.
Sophie Littlefield has raised zombies to terrify us, but in Hanging by a Thread Littlefield reveals to readers the horrors of the everyday human. From special societies to city traditions hanging by a thread reveals a lot about the human perceptions on the world around us and how these self held truths can destroy a person from the inside out and corrupt. Littlefield, fueled by a great variety of characters, slowly divulges the plot thread by thread until the tapestry of story unravels to readers leaving them surprised and at the edge of their seats until the very end. With several plot twists that jump out culminating into a suspenseful conclusion, readers will love Sophie Littlefield's YA debut.
While mastering the horrors of the adult condition pushed to limits in a dystopian future, Sophie Littlefield will twist the YA genre with this dramatic suspenseful YA thriller in Hanging By A Thread.

*received a copy of this book through edelweiss and the publishers on the amazing internet.  An honest review was typed out by me with at least three cups of coffee in my system and I hope all errors were auto-corrected or fixed by flying monkeys in residence.

What a wonderful review. It's too bad that the book didn't meet your expectations. I was conisdering pre-ordering this one but I think I'll just request it from the library to try it out one day.
