The threat of the partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to the disease in over a decade. Humanity’s time is running out.
When sixteen-year-old Kira learns of her best friend’s pregnancy, she’s determined to find a solution. Then one rash decision forces Kira to flee her community with the unlikeliest of allies. As she tries desperately to save what is left of her race, she discovers that the survival of both humans and partials rests in her attempts to answer questions of the war’s origin that she never knew to ask.

What We Thought:

Dan Wells shocks readers into his vision of the future with the release of Partials. Set in the not so distant future humanity has been stricken with a virus that killed all but 30, 000 people and a war that devastated a generation. To win a war man created a race of human like machines to fight for them against other countries but after the fight these Partials turned on the people who enslaved the after their fight. Partials are believed to be the spreaders of the deadly RM virus to the population that struck the next generations sterile or dead. The survives of these first rounds of plagues are struggling to find a cure as fast as the virus is destroying every new life that comes into the world

Through a captivating and thrilling plot we are taken into this dystopian landscape where 'humanity isn't just human' and where political agenda reigns supreme. Following the story of what may be the last city of humans on Earth we are following an aspiring young medical worker Kira who is struggling to end the rampant deadly RM virus before it kills her best friend's upcoming baby. Through Kira we experience this world through the lens of a sixteen year old who is losing her rights and possible going to lose get life while on a mission to save everyone. What Kira needs is a Partial, the very older born creation that is either killing all the last humans on earth or that could be their very cure.

Kira is swept into a building political plot and captured across enemy lines but this thrilling adventure does not stop there, what Kira does not know now may be part of the very thing she grew up fearing. With a fantastic progression and a well-orchestrated  series of turn of events Partials will catch readers and keep them hooked in this great new YA series from Dan Wells.
