My Thoughts on The Selection:
While unsure of this title and its content, I was utterly blown away by The Selection from Kiera Cass.

With a country steeped in unrest and rival local groups, The Selection gives us a timeless tale of girl meets prince. In this case one girl is selected from certain areas in her country to be voted out Bachelor style until one girl is selection to become princess and in her own time Queen.

The Selection opens up to our main character America Singer who has a secret love in a lower class level from her own class of Artist in a caste filled new country. Upon the receipt of a letter from the kingdom America joins into becoming part of the very selection that she despises so that her own family can receive money from her participation to purchase foods and goods they so disparately need. With the promise of keeping some of her own earned income in the family, America soon expresses her love and intentions to this boy she loves, only for her attentions to be turned down and he leaves her.

Lost and torn America moves into the castle and into the realization that this Selection may become more than she bargained for.
With a Prince who may be more than a pretty face and a host of attacks on the castle, America soon finds strength not only in herself, but also in what is worth fighting for.

Kiera Cass has created an amazing story that will captivate readers and give us all that feeling of being Selected or being a diamond in the rough. With a great pair of characters in America and Prince Maxon we soon find ourselves warming up to their light banter that soon kindles into something more while at the same time realizing that life outside the castle walls may perchance be hiding something more in terms of rebellion.

The Selection is a riveting new read that will grip readers and keep them at the edge of their seats eager for more.

Book Blurb from the Publisher:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
