I am always impressed with Rachel Meads books and especially the depth in her characters.
Bloodlines is another chapter in the Vampire Academy. We return to all of our favorite characters and get to know a few more a lot better.
Sydney shines as the main character in bloodlines.
The Alchemists have come to her home to bequest her sister Zoe to go on an assignment, but to protect her sister Sydney takes the job. The Alchemists are still unsure to trust Sydney and she is always under the shadow of fear they will come and reeducate her.
What I love with Mead's book is they tie together all of these forces of characters together into an amazing action packed, heart wrenching unfolding plot that is SO hard to put down. I ate this book up. I love Adrian's character and he was even more amazing here, but really Sydney outshines them all. While not a big character in the Vampire Academy series itself, I began to love Sydney in the last two books. Sydney really wants to do her job, and do it right. She has a great moral conscience and asks herself the reason why she is doing things a lot. She has this strong mind, and this amazing heart.
Sydney takes the stage in Bloodlines when she tried to keep Jill Dragomir alive and safe after a previous attack on her life. The Alchemists and the Royalty secret Jill of to an undisclosed place to stay safe and alive since Jill is needed to keep reigning Queen Lissa on the throne.
The opposition is coming, and who will come out on top?
Bloodlines is not only the PERFECT title of this book, but the plot was delicious. We had some love, some angst, some retribution, some great witty dialog. Once you pick up Bloodlines, expect nothing less than finishing it since it will be hard to put down.

Book Blurb:
When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.
