Review: NoMansLand by Lesley Hauge
Nomansland by Lesley Hauge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
NoMansLand is an amazing read. I am always enjoying these post apocalyptic genres and who they twist the stories around.
The author weaves a tale of a 'fabled' land where women roam and eat the men, cage them for later and are beautiful and vicious. That time of the month eh?
Except really there is a fenced valley fill with women and girls who are dwindling in numbers. Who are malnourished and underdeveloped ad trained to fight the enemy:men. These girls in training have yet never met a man, a huge hulking violent beast, yet they grow to fear them, they are the boogie man. There is hardly any written history revealed to the young girls, there are no names given to girls evening in -i or -y, and you may have no close friends, no lovers, and basically no wardrobe.
The story centers around one girl, who is being trained to be a Tracker, to guard the borders of 'Foundland' which is the women's and we experience her trials and tribulations about the demystification of her rigid belief/society as it starts to crumble.
This book rocks.
It is well written, I love the characters, I love the idea and then it leaves you at a cliffhanger that make you want to scream into the night, "NOOOOOOO!" because now I need to wait a year to see what happens.
You are amazing Lesley Hauge! Keep on writing.
Go pick up a copy and read it.
Also that cover is awesome. I want a poster.
